When Sandy and I booked our cruise in June of 2017, we had a daughter that didn't walk, was generally happy, and slept through the night.
Fast forward to our cruise in March 2018, and Sarah walks and runs, throws wild temper tantrums, and screams herself sleep. In general we had a great trip. However, there are a few areas where cruising and traveling with a toddler was much different than at more of the newborn/infant stage. Read about our trip to Mexico here and here. The post for tips for an all-inclusive resort with babies is here This past March, my family and I went on a spring break cruise to the Western Caribbean. Originally, it was supposed to be Eastern Caribbean. However, after the hurricanes last fall, the itinerary needed to be changed.
Part 1 of this review is going to be of our cruise. Part 2 will discuss cruising with toddlers. Cruising is a great way to see new places, and experience relaxation and fun on a "floating hotel". A while back I discussed some gratuity guidelines for all-inclusive resorts. Gratuities work very differently on cruises.
In February 2016, Sandy and I found out that we were going to be parents. We were excited, nervous, happy, and anxious. Many times all at once! Prior to this, we had been planning on traveling to Mexico in the summer for a week. Now we needed to change those plans due to the harmful effects associated with Zika the further south towards the equator you go.
After doing some searching, an Alaskan cruise presented the best options. We could still get away for a relaxing trip, but we wouldn't have to worry about Zika. Below you'll see a review of the trip that we took, along with some highlights about taking a Babymoon. Cruise or All-Inclusive? This is an age old question that travel agents get asked all the time. I'm here to not pick a side, but to lay out all the factors you should take into consideration before making a decision.
Before I dig in, understand that these are generalizations. You can always find exceptions. An experienced, local travel agent can help you make sense of which option can be a better fit for your next trip! |
